:: Do I Need A Web Site? ::.

Having a Web presence isn’t something 'extra' that you do for your business or organization nowadays.  The Web is the first place many people check you out.  What they see may positively or negatively affect their impression of you.

Why should I have a presence on the Internet?

If you're asking yourself why you might need a web site for your business or organization, you're not alone.  The Internet did not start as a business informational or marketing tool, but has quickly evolved into one.  Here are a few reasons that you might want to consider having a web site on the Internet:

Your business competitor already has a site. This is the "keeping up with the Jones" way of thinking, but in many cases, your competitor has already found one more marketing or sales advantage over you by placing his goods and services online.  Simply put, if you don't take advantage of the Internet, your competitors probably will.

The Net levels the playing field. The Internet is a means for small businesses to compete directly with the larger corporations.

Cost savings, that can be realized in the following ways:

  • E-mail is a cheap form of communication, cheaper than phone calls.   This greatly decreases the expense of customer support and responding to customer inquiries.
  • Web Advertising is cheaper than traditional advertising, like newspaper, radio, or television advertising.
  • Conducting research on your competitors is cheaper than doing it by traditional means.
  • Direct mailings of catalogs, brochures, etc. is much less expensive, and generally speaking, distribution of information to your membership, constituents, community is cheaper and quicker than using printed media.
  • Larger potential customer base. Especially if your product is unique, why not try to reach a larger audience?
